Moving financial plans Essays Moving financial plans Essay Moving financial plans Essay Given the speed of progress and general vulnerability in the outer condition, investors look for fast outcomes. Organizations commonly report to investors like clockwork, contrasted and the typical a half year. Moving spending plans include assessing the past a year execution on a progressing premise, and determining the following three months execution. We consider our to be as a forward looking arrangement that sees our heading and goal point, different archives, for example, the asset report and the benefit misfortune account permits us to think back and mirror our advancement disclosing to us where we have been and how we got to this current position. The organizations financial plan is a fixed kind spending plan and is arranged every year by the agreements administrator, money chief and the 5 recreation community directors (planning group), it is survey each month during the time to mirror our advancement. The spending plan permits our middle supervisors to co-ordinate and control the exercises of the association adequately, it likewise permits them to execute the field-tested strategy too. The financial plan is a key administration apparatus for dynamic and the means beneath that we follow permits the supervisors to know where they are going. The spending comprises of: Pay/deals which depends on new individuals joining the wellness suite, action levels, support clients, optional spends in addition to the administration charge that is paid to us from the gathering. Use which depends on compensation, utilities, fixes and support, administrator, showcasing and so forth. Capital use works which incorporate new wellbeing and wellness studios, DDA works, building upgrades and data innovation Once each focuses financial plan is finished the agreement administrator who is answerable for the 5 relaxation places and the help group co-ordinates the individual spending plans into an ace spending plan. The inside administrator additionally co-ordinates the financial plan down to there obligation chiefs, this gives them what they can spend on specific things and what the pay levels ought to be. At the point when the concurred spending plan is set up we have a few money related methods to follow this permits us to control the spending day by day and is very simple to run. Each middle administrator normally screens progress and checks for changes, they fill in a day by day salary and consumption spreadsheet which permits them to think about the genuine and planned outcomes. The planning group get together toward the finish of every month to see the spending plan, this permits supervisors to respond on significant changes as far as the possible effect upon the associations in general financial plan. The planning group would then be able to examine what amendments are expected to get the spending plan on its unique course. Several scrutinizes of a fixed spending plan is that it works less well when associations face huge or exceptionally connected dangers, or when the money related year is too short to even consider smoothing out the characteristic changeability because of rehashed chance events. At the point when such vulnerabilities rise, the planning of choices inside the money related year takes on included significance. Fixed spending plans likewise give clear impetuses to over-spending close to the furthest limit of the monetary year. These antagonistic impetuses are then disturbed by the confounded flagging games that happen between focal specialists and their subordinates. Incidentally, under spending might be taken, as an indication of inadequacy that required work has not been finished. While it is hard to spend each and every penny and a few slips are continually going to happen, the size of these omissions makes it very awkward for three reasons * Significant under spending makes it hard to legitimize any increments in these allocations. * There are worries that customers requiring administrations are not getting them * Some adroit spending expert is going to see a theme and lessen the assignments, figuring that in the event that we dont spend it we should not require it. A fixed spending plan controls costs on consumption levels in our association, I. e. in the event that an obligation director is given a specific add up to spend, when that cash has gone he can not spend any longer, this keeping a tight control on the financial plan, then again If a chief required more athletic gear for a movement to happen and his financial plan has been spent, this would impact the client and may keep them from participating in the action. This shows the spending procedure can be an obstruction to execution. At current the planning group have made certain suspicions in deciding the first financial plan (predominantly utilities, support and fix costs). On the off chance that we utilized an adaptable spending changes can be made during the time to guarantee that we work the inside the spending we have set, utilizing the information we increase through the activity of the business. I. e. Single circle criticism includes causing remedies to current exercises so as to get back on course and twofold circle input includes changing the first plans with the goal that they all the more precisely reflect current business reality. The spending procedure that we set up is tedious and expensive to assemble it is additionally founded on mystery and unsupported presumptions. Chiefs invest far to much energy dissecting their financial plans, and different pieces of the business appears to endure. I. e. the cutting edge staff and the clients, in what capacity can a director comprehend what the clients need when he is stuck in the workplace examining his financial plan and not speaking with the clients. Unsupported presumptions and mystery happens in light of the fact that he doesn't impart and include his staff in the planning procedure. One of the manners in which we could improve the framework and the control of pay and use is have site explicit organization and consumption controls to be refreshed and to be inspected continually. The presentation of another till framework will empower us better cross examination of salary figures to be embraced, empowering us to advertise offices all the more adequately and to get progressively precise data with respect to clients.

The Massive Influence On The Indian Society Religion Essay

The Massive Influence On The Indian Society Religion Essay Station as we have talked about before is a wide territory to investigate. It has huge effect on the Indian culture in its own specific manner. In spite of the fact that it was formally prohibited in India there still stays a piece of it in the psyches of Indian individuals. It has been quite observed in provincial regions than in urban territories as the individuals in urban region are increasingly instructed. As a piece of this there have circumstances of lower position being manhandled even now in specific districts. Rehearsing distance and position separation is legitimately illegal in India. Station framework prompts what is known as a social prohibition. It implies the failure of a person to take an interest in the fundamental political, financial and social working of society (Thorat,S,Newman,K.(2007).pg4121). Qualifications to all postulations powers become smaller as it moves more remote down to the progressive degrees of the station framework. Occupations generally viewed a s debasing are normally done by the lower rank (dalits) and the best model being the manual rummaging. Manual rummaging is the most exceedingly terrible enduring image of rank distance in India which drives individuals into debasing employments in light of the fact that their introduction to the world specifically class. As per one of the main papers in India, The Hindu, there has been an occurrence of a lady who was naturally introduced to a group of manual rummaging who genuinely scratched the human excreta on the toilet floors and diverted it in a bushel. While accomplishing her work she slipped from a thin wooden flight of stairs and broke her foot to which none of her managers were eager to lift her even in this state since they thought contacting her was dirtying. She was then gotten by a pincer of logs and her family took her to the nearby dispensary. Such sickening conduct of the people is as aftereffect of the position framework or it very well may be even named as wrongs o f station framework. Legislature of India found a way to prohibit this training yet anyway these administrations have a long custom of discourteously defying their own laws on the off chance that they are relating to maintain the privileges of poor people. At long last an exceptional crusade named the Safai Karmchari Andolan(SKA) utilized peaceful mass-opposition, network association and the courts to drive governments to end this hundreds of years old practice.(The Hindu, May 9.2010) In the western nations like United Kingdom, it is usually discovered that individuals wind up wedding the individuals they work with. In any case, this has not been the situation with the Indians. In present day corporate India when individuals go into an association they don't have the goal of getting hitched with the individuals they work with. Besides they share the connection that of a companion. In any case, that doesn't imply that none of them wind up getting hitched. I originate from a state called Kerala which is arranged in down south of India and there are individuals from lower rank who are taught and hold an office work. Some of them may wind up wedding their associate who may not be from a similar station or even from a similar religion. This difference in mentality in individuals of Kerala is pretty much because of the instruction and information given to them. To go somewhat more profound into the pervasiveness of standing in Kerala back in period, I like to bring to s ee a holy person and a social reformer named Sree Narayana Guru who struggled against the separation of the lower station by upper position. The rank framework was widespread in Kerala during the nineteenth and early piece of twentieth century. As referenced before standing depended hands on every one did. A lower rank needed to experience various principles, for example, one ought not enter sanctuaries, not permitted to wear shoes, ought not be seen inside a specific separation of the upper standing. Anybody opposing these standards are dependent upon repulsive discipline s like cutting of hands and so forth. This silly demonstrations by the upper station was put to an end by this extraordinary soul Sree Narayana master who drove a social unrest against this horrendous framework. Be that as it may, this development by this incredible soul chafed just the very customary yet was suited by the lion's share (M.S.Joe,March 18.2010). This insurgency was maybe one of the most peaceful uph eavals the world would have ever experienced. He constructed sanctuaries and composed songs which could be utilized by individuals in any religion. The administration in this manner changed their enactment wherein the lower standings were permitted to enter sanctuaries run by upper station. This sanctuary section declaration was similarly acknowledged by individuals all through India including the Christians and the Muslims(Govt of Kerala. Gotten to on 7-7-2010) .Later on he opened the doors of training by building schools where everybody could go to the meetings and in this manner created a high extent of instructed individuals. Despite the fact that he engineered this whole quiet social upset and accomplished opportunity for the unprivileged he is minimal known outside Kerala (Sree Narayana master Mission of the UK, 1978.accessed on 1-7-2010). Station doesn't represent an extraordinary issue in the current situation. These have been circumstances were a high rank and a lower standing work together with no turmoil. In an association, a lower position can be a director and a Brahmin can be in the lower framework and this is totally founded on the ability and aptitude of the worker and rank framework doesn't really come in the manner. This is the situation of present day India on account of the important instruction framework. However, with regards to governmental issues inside the association there might be biasness occurring between various people of a similar standing or religion. Anyway this could been seen over the world and not simply in India. An inquiry may come up in the brains of Non-Indians in regards to the working of position framework in India which suits individuals with various ideas and thoughts of the equivalent. I might want to illuminate this issue by outlining certain occasions that have been going on in India which shows that the two belief systems of standing being significant and insignificant coincides in this equivalent nation. Regardless of the decree of sanctuary passage made by the Maharaja of Travancore in Kerala sixty years back, there are still issues occurring around identifying with the position framework. To reinforce this contention, an occurrence that occurred in Kerala, where one of the well known playback vocalists named Yesudas who is a catholic was denied the passage into one of the acclaimed sanctuaries in a region in Kerala. The explanation him being a non-hindu and the incongruity behind this is the sanctuary specialists despite everything plays the melodies sung by him in the sanctuary however they may limit his entrance into the sanctuary. Another such episode was seen by the individuals of Kerala when the Union pastor for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi was mortified or rather disheartened because of the way that a stylized decontamination was done in the sanctuary after he had his grandsons formal first taking care of. The explanation being his significant other who was a Christian should have dirtied the sanctuary by her visit (India today, June 18.2007). This filtration was finished by the consecrated ministers of the sanctuary who are the Brahmins. There are issues occurring in northern India too. There was an issue which goes back to 1936 preceding India got its Independence from the pilgrim British principle. An unapproachable in a town called Chawara in the Jaipur state was pounded on account of the way that he gave a supper to his kindred untouchables where he served Ghee which was considered as an extravagance for the rich(Dr.Ambedkar.B.R,(1944).Accessed on 7-7-2010). Such crippling practices are not to be seen now however a brief look at it despite everything stays in provincial pieces of India. It is upsetting that such framework exists today to a limited degree because of a specific very universal area of the general public. Anyway this little section is being distanced in the current situation in view of their traditional mentality. Returning to the standing framework and relationships in India, as we examined previously, masterminded relationships are acknowledged more than affection relationships. To help the above judgment I might want to deliver a case of how Indian families discover life partners for their youngsters. This is cited from a marriage site where a profile of a young lady is enlisted in that specific site with the end goal of marriage. One of the most common disorders those with BPD also experience is a dependent personality disorder. What Is Dependent Personality Disorder? DPD is a personality disorder characterized by a pervasive and excessive need to be taken care of. In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5th edition, the manual used by mental health professionals to establish diagnostic criteria, DPD is classified as Cluster C, the cluster made up of anxious and fearful disorders. Other disorders included in Cluster C are avoidant and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders; all three show high levels of anxiety. Individuals with dependent personalities tend to be very clingy and have difficulties accomplishing tasks or making decisions without the help of others. They rely on others to meet their emotional and physical needs. They tend to feel inadequate and helpless and can have problems in their relationships because of their near-constant need for support. People with DPD have little trust in themselves or confidence. This can cause them to be completely reliant on a partner even in the case of domestic abuse. Common symptoms include: Fear of being aloneAvoiding taking initiative or responsibilitySensitivity to criticismLack of opinions While a direct cause is unknown, dependent personality disorder often shows itself in childhood and affects men and women equally. Dependent Personality Disorder vs. Borderline Personality Disorder Unlike those with DPD, people with BPD also experience rage, impulsivity, and aggression. They can be reckless and can engage in self-harm and see the world as black and white, with no middle ground. The two disorders often overlap in feelings of loneliness, avoiding responsibility and difficulty maintaining relationships. The Frequency of Co-Occurring DPD and BPD While studies of the co-occurrence, also known as a comorbidity, of the personality disorders are fairly limited, some researchers have examined the overlap between dependent and borderline personality. One study found that over 50 percent of patients with BPD also meet criteria for DPD. The prevalence of these comorbidities could be because some of the features of DPD are very similar to the features of BPD. For example, people with BPD experience rejection sensitivityâ€"they have a tendency to feel desperate at even the slightest perceived rejection. Individuals with DPD may react similarly to criticism or perceived abandonment by loved ones. Helping a Loved With DPD and Co-Occurring BPD Research has shown that both dependent and borderline personality disorders are treatable. Through a combination of therapy and medication, the symptoms of each disorder can be managed, enabling the affected person to live a fuller life. In order to be most effective, therapy will need to treat both disorders at once in order to achieve sustainable recovery. Find Support With the 9 Best Online Therapy Programs For example, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), schema-focused therapy, and transference-focused therapy all have treatment elements that focus on relationship problems. These may be appropriate treatment choices for someone with both BPD and DPD. In some cases, residential or outpatient services may be necessary. These treatment centers will have intensive skills training to make coping with the disorders more manageable.

What is Enlightenment Emmanuel Kant - 1086 Words

In his essay writing â€Å"What is Enlightenment?† Immanuel Kant defines enlightenment as â€Å"man’s emergence from his self-imposed immaturity† (Kant, 1). In order for us to completely understand this definition, we must first understand what Kant meant by â€Å"Immaturity†. In the writing Kant defines immaturity as â€Å"the inability to use one’s understanding without the guidance from another†(Kant, 1). Furthermore, Kant believes that this immaturity is self-imposed, and that it is the individual’s fault for lacking the courage and resolve to think for themselves, but instead pay others to think and understand for them. I substantially agree with this idea, however, his remarks on immaturity in relation to the government, the way people should live, and†¦show more content†¦Furthermore, in the text he mentions â€Å"Nothing is required for this enlightenment, however, except freedom; and the freedom in question is the l east harmful of all, namely, the freedom to use reason publicly in all matters†(Kant, 2). What Kant tries to explain in this writing is that people need to exercise their reason in public stages/arena’s such as public debating without the â€Å"guardians† interference. They should be able to debate with each other in complete freedom, without censorship. I agree with Kant that to achieve enlightenment we have to first achieve freedom. But to achieve enlightenment to me is to be able to think freely, be healthy, and to be wise. Just thinking freely can get you to enlightenment Kant claims. However, without health how can one think when something troubles him, or he is ill. Without wisdom how can one expect to speak knowledgeable about a topic? Kant believes that the public use of ones reason â€Å"must always be free† and that public reason is reason that â€Å"anyone as a scholar† makes before the â€Å"literate world† (Kant, 2). Private reason he mentions is the use of reason that a person can make in what he called a civic office or a civil post. He believed that public reason is free and that private reason had restrictions because there was a need to keep social, and public order. The Simpsons an Imperfect Ideal Family Free Essays

The Simpsons: An Imperfect Ideal Family The essay The Simpsons: An Imperfect Ideal Family was a paper written by Eliezer Van Allen explaining how the popular T. V show The Simpsons was not so unrealistic and impractical as many Americans had thought it to be. In fact, The Simpsons was, more or less, a â€Å"â€Å"cracked-mirror version† of our own imperfect but lovable selves† just in a cartoon, sitcom type form. We will write a custom essay sample on The Simpsons: an Imperfect Ideal Family or any similar topic only for you Order Now This essay talks about how The Simpsons family often reflects the way many current families live and how, although many individual characteristics in a family member may not always be the best, as a whole a family will often come together and help one another constructing a strong family bond. Although Van Allen over exaggerates the obstacles of the everyday life, he refers to The Simpsons as a â€Å"nuclear† resemblance of the typical 20th century family. Throughout the essay, Van Allen often uses many literary techniques/ rhetorical devices to help the reader understand the effectiveness of the piece. Humour is used when Van Allen makes a personal connection to the fact that at the beginning of each Simpsons episode, the Simpsons family all run to the couch and sit in their â€Å"specific† spot, just like his own. He refers to this as a â€Å"mirror image of my couch-dwelling family†. Having this humour presented in the essay allows for the reader to stay attentive and wanting to read more, as humour often keeps the reader interested. This often allows for the reader to have more of a connection with the author and to get more of a feel of what the authors thinking process is. Allegory is present throughout the essay as Bert and Lisa’s everyday behaviour allegorically teaches the lessons of the average American. For instance, in â€Å"Bart Sells His Soul† love and concern is shown by Lisa’s actions as she cares for him and always has his back. This contributes to the effectiveness of the piece because although many family members (individually) may not always be the best and act to their morals, as a family, everyone works together and helps each other’s weaknesses become strengths and will grow off the strengthens of one another, creating a family, as outlined by Richard Corliss, â€Å"they stick together with one another through thick and thin†. As a reader, this is thought to give the essay â€Å"personality† and with that comes good T. V reviews as viewers become attached and are able to relate to their own family/ real life scenarios. Periodic sentence is present when Van Allen refers to Matt Groening, The Simpsons creator, when he states â€Å"I knew that other kids were going to get serious and go on and be professional†¦ I never wanted to go to an office and carry a briefcase†, as it is only clear at the end of the sentence what Groening meant by that. He knew that â€Å"carrying a briefcase† wasn’t for him so he created a new way to express his talents and his passions. This contributes to the effectiveness of the piece because it forces the reader to keep reading to find out what the author was trying to say, and without doing so the main point of what the author is trying to get across is confusing and may often be misunderstood. Throughout the essay many literary terms/ rhetorical devices are present; these are just a few of many that really stuck out to me. Before reading Van Allen’s paper, I had never thought of The Simpsons in the way he had portrayed it, or the way Groening explained the story behind it. It wasn’t until fully reading and understanding Van Allen’s essay that I started to click into the logic behind the mirror image ideology that The Simpsons family portrayed of the typical 20th century American family. I felt that throughout the essay Van Allen supported his point of how The Simpsons portrayed the average 20th century family very well. He made a lot of personal connections that both any reader and I could easily relate too. For example, he talked about how The Simpsons was â€Å"that† T. V show for him and his family that they felt was the mirror-image of their family life. How they all ran to the T. V to watch The Simpsons episode that was coming on next, just how The Simpsons family does at the beginning of each episode. He also talked about how now a days, individual family members don’t always act appropriate and may have some horrible individual traits, from Bart’s rebelliousness, to Homer’s stupidity and foolishness, but as a group and family together they make the best come out in each other. No family has perfect kids or perfect parents but it’s the love and care that one another share, that matters most. This is taught throughout Van Allen’s essay about The Simpsons family in comparison to the average family now a day. To me, family means to always be there for another and always have each others back. Unlike friends, you can’t choose your family. You know that as much as they might get on your nerves sometimes, you must look past that, and find the good in what you are blessed with. While reading Van Allen’s essay I felt that I could relate to a lot of what he was saying and found it very easy to understand what he was trying to get across, which kept me wanting to read more. I strongly agree with Van Allen’s point on how The Simpsons is a character formatted sitcom version of the typical 20th century family. Overall, reading this essay has made me think about how much more relatable and relevant some of shows on T. V actually are. Every time I turn on the T. V and go to watch a sitcom type show especially, it makes me think about any possible story line or lesson that may be hidden behind the show that may benefit me in any way. Van Allen’s essay has made me truly appreciate the hard work and effort gone into such a show, as The Simpsons would have been the last show I would have thought to have a message behind it. All in all, Van Allen`s essay has given T. V shows a whole new outcome, as in how they are looked upon and I am more understanding of the meanings behind the â€Å"hidden messages† in our simple day to day shows. Company And Its Recognition And Measurement -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Company And Its Recognition And Measurement? Answer: Introducation The company selected is the Woolworths Limited. The income of the company is identified from the Statement of Profit and Loss account for the year end along with the notes to the financial statements of the company. In the annual report of the company for the year ending 25th of June 2017, the total income of the company as mentioned in the statement of Profit and Loss account is $55475 million and the note number 2.1.1 of the financial statements have provided the breakup of the total income figure into six different segments as Australian Food, New Zealand Food, Endeavour Drinks, Big W, Hotels and Unallocated (Bradshaw and Sloan, 2012). Revenue in case of goods is recognized when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have been transferred to the customer and in case of services based on completion stages. It is measured at consideration received or receivable depending upon fulfillment of recognition requirements. GAAP is Crucial for Financial Reporting and Business Practices Financial reporting is defined as the communication of the financial information of the company to the investors and the stakeholders of the company. Financial report generally includes two types of statements balance sheet and statement of profit and loss account. The former provides the financial position of the company and the latter provides the financial performance of the company. Along with the above statement the next statement is the disclosures which every organization whether private or governmental is required to made (Bradshaw and Miller, 2016). GAAP is defined as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. These are defined as the set of rules, methods, concepts, objectives and the standards that has been developed over time and are required for the preparation of the financial statements of the company. The GAAP includes the accounting standards as established by Financial Accounting Standards Board and Governmental accounting standards board. The adoption of the GAAP ensures that the financial data so delivered by the organization to their users shall be relevant and reliable and shall in no case represent the manipulative data or figures. Secondly, the adoption of GAAP facilitates the comparison of the financial statements of the company in very easy manner. The financial results of the organization can be compared over the time and also with other organization prevailing in the same industry or sometimes in different industries (Street, D.L and Gray, 2014). Thirdly, it facilitates the clear financial rules and ensures the provisioning of unbiased and true and correct information of the organization whether profit making or not for profit making. Illustrating the Implementation of GAAP Every company implements the GAAP. The principle of the GAAP includes four areas recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure. All the standards on accounting has been prepared and presented on these four major principles. In the given case the .company Woolworths Limited has implemented the GAAP. The example that has been chosen is the recognition and measurement of the property plant and equipment. As per the significant accounting policies of the company number 3.3 of the annual report of the company, the carrying value of the property plant and equipment has been measured at cost less accumulated depreciation, accumulated amortization and the accumulated impairment losses. The assets have been depreciated on the basis of the straight line method as envisaged by the Corporations Act 2001. The amount has been depreciated over the estimated useful lives of the assets. In case where the items of property plant and equipment have been depreciated different useful life then those items have been separately mentioned in the annual report. Thereafter, the accounting treatment of the profit or loss that has occurred on sale of asset has been explained as the net gain or loss will be transferred to the statement of the profit and loss. As the GAAP principles includes the measurement and recognition of items of the financial statements and that too in accordance with the traditional method of accounting that has been followed over the past years and hence in the same manner it shows that the company is in compliance with GAAP (Leuz, 2013). GAAP Not chosen by Company and Its Impact GAAP are the set of rules, methods and principles that provides how the accounting treatment of anything is done. But there always remains the room in which the manipulative practice erupts (Cuijpers and Buijink, 2015.) In the case of the given company Woolworths Limited, the major area where the GAAP has not been exercised is the discontinuance of the Home Improvement business of the company. In the case of the Home Improvement business, the segment has been sold and discontinued and many other related components and events have happened due to which the accounting of the company has been reflected as complex and the same has been reported by the auditors of the company as the key audit matters by which the investors of the company shall be apprised and duly informed (Daske, 2016). The accounting for the interrelated components so made by the company in the financial statements have reflected that the company have adopted the significant judgments and the required estimates in arriving at the carrying value of the assets and the liabilities that are remaining and has been held at the date of the balance sheet which is 25th of June 2017. The auditors have very categorically mentioned that judgments and estimates have been considered form carrying value of: The assets and liabilities of home consortium transaction under which the sale has taken place , The assets and liabilities that the company has retained after discontinuing the business and Accounting treatment of the put and call option of Hydrox Holdings and Lowes respectively (Company Official Website, 2017). The above non compliance with the GAAP has exhibited that the company has followed some manipulative practices through which the discontinuance of business have been materialized. It is because although many of the interrelated components have been occurring during the same period but the company has not adopted the GAAP through which the auditors would have been able to measure and recognize the value of the assets and liabilities so recognized and derecognized. The impact is that the investors will lost their confidence in financial results of the company as the clear picture has not been provided. Tom Sawyer Essays (1656 words) - Picaresque Novels,

Tom Sawyer Tom Sawyer Tom Sawyer is a boy who is full of adventures. In his world there is an adventure around every corner. Some of his adventures have lead him into some bad situations but with his good heart and bright mind he has gotten out of them. Tom lives with his aunt Polly, his cousin Mary and his bother Sid. One of the first things to happen in the book is a memorable one, the painting of the fence. Tom's aunt Polly made Tom paint her fence on a Saturday as a punishment. Tom just hated the idea of having to work on a Saturday while all of the neighborhood could make fun of and harass him. After Tom tried to trade some of his possessions for a few hours of freedom he had a stroke of genius, instead of him paying people to work for him, he made people pay him to paint. Tom managed this by telling people that it isn't every day that you get a chance to paint a fence and he thought it was fun. He had people begging him to paint by the time that he was finished his story. He would have taken every boy in the town's wealth if he had not run out of paint. On June 17th about the hour of midnight, Tom and his best friend Huck were out in the grave yard trying to get rid of warts, when they witnessed a murder by Injun Joe. At the time Muff Potter was drunk and asleep so Injun Joe blamed the murder him (Muff Potter). They knew if crazy Injun Joe found out they knew, he would for sure kill them. Tom wrote on a wooden board "Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer swear to keep mum about this and they wish they may drop down dead in their tracks if they ever tell and rot", then in their own blood they signed their initials TS and HF. A few days after that incident Tom, Huck and Joe decided to go and become pirates because no one cared for their company anymore. They stole some food and supplies and then they stole a raft and paddled to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. They stayed and pirated for several days, then they all became so home sick that they could not bear it anymore. The next day Tom, Huck, and Joe showed up for their own funerals and there was much thanks and praise. The next big event in the town was the trial of Muff Potter for the murder in the graveyard. The whole town believed Injun Joe, and poor Muff was sent to a temporary jail cell for a week. At the end of the week he was to be hung unless some one in court had proved him innocent. While Muff was in jail temporarily he was not alone. Every day Tom and Huck would go and talk to him through the jail cell bars and on occasion bring him food. On the last day of court, to everyone's surprise they called Tom Sawyer to the stand. Then the man asked him where he was on the 17th of June he said "In the graveyard". Then when he asked who he saw do it he said with all his courage he said "Muff didn't do it. It was Injun Joe!" and with that Injun Joe jumped out the window and ran away. Tom and Huck decided that they wanted to become rich so they went to go and find buried treasure. Tom and Huck dug under trees all day and night but found nothing, then Tom said that they should go and dig for treasure in a haunted house. They went back two days later and went to a haunted house. Both the boys were scared but they both went inside anyway. The boys dared each other to go upstairs, so of course they went up and looked in closets for treasure but found nothing. Suddenly the boys heard two men talking and then come inside. Both of the boys got down on the floor and then they heard the voice again, it was Injun Joe. Injun Joe and the other man had a bag of money and decided to bury it there. Tom and Huck could hardly contain themselves because they would steal it as soon as Injun Joe left. Injun Joe was digging a hole with his knife when he hit something, it was a box of money.

The Architecture of a Propeller

The Architecture of a Propeller On the surface, a propeller seems like a simple device. Once you learn to measure some common prop dimensions and ponder the nearly limitless combinations of these variables you see that it is very complex. Then at some point, after much studying, you will attain prop enlightenment and the propeller will become simple again. There are no promises of prop enlightenment or other engineering magic here, just some basic terms and measurements to help you see how a prop interacts with the rest of the vessel and the elements. With this knowledge, you will be able to determine prop performance characteristics. Architecture of a Propeller Hub – This is the central portion of the prop that fits onto the prop shaft. It is a hollow cylinder where the bases of the blades are attached.Blades – These are the large, flat pieces that radiate out from the hub. This is what pushes the water making the boat move forward.Root – This is where the blade attaches to the hub.Leading Edge - This refers to the edge of a blade that is moving into the water.Trailing Edge – This is the edge of a blade that is opposite the leading edge.Blade Face – The wide part of the blade, often divided into fore and aft faces. Propeller Variables Diameter – The diameter of a prop is the distance across the propeller. If you are viewing a prop from the rear of a boat and imagine the prop making a solid circle as it spins the diameter will be the distance across that circle. To measure this dimension measure one blade from the center of the hub to the tip of the blade then double that number to get the diameter. Pitch – This measurement is the mystery for many people but the definition is very simple. The pitch of a prop tells us the maximum distance a propeller will move a vessel forward through the water. Take note of the word maximum in this description. Pitch is often referred to as a theoretical measurement because no prop operates at one hundred percent efficiency. The laws of fluid dynamics tell us that there is a significant loss of power at the prop which can be as much as one-third of maximum efficiency. This means that a prop with a pitch of 21 inches will only move a boat forward fourteen inches in the real world. To measure pitch, you need to take several measurements. These measurements are going to be much more accurate if you have the prop off the shaft and can lay it flat on a table. Don’t worry if you need to do this while it is still attached to the vessel, it will be slightly less accurate but this is not a precision engineering measurement. First, find the widest part of one blade and draw a line across the face from edge to edge. Then measure the distance from the front of the hub to the points where your line meets each edge of the blade. You can do this best while viewing the prop from the side. Take the smaller measurement and subtract it from the larger. Next use a protractor, angle gauge, or carpentry square to measure the triangle formed by the two points at either end of the line drawn across the widest part of the propeller blade and the center of the hub. The narrow, pointy end should be at the center of the hub. Measure the angle between the two lines radiating out from the center of the hub. Now take the first measurement and multiply it by 360. Then take the result and divide it by the angle you found in the second measurement. The resulting number is the pitch of the prop. For example, a prop that has a three-inch difference between the leading and trailing edge at the center of a blade and has a thirty-degree angle between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the blade will have a pitch of 36 inches. This is calculated as; 3 x 360 / 30 36. There are also inexpensive prop gauges available but where is the fun in that approach. Rake – Rake is the angle between the cylinder that forms the hub and an imaginary line from the blade root to the tip of the blade. This is best measured with a protractor or angle gauge since the measurement will be a fairly small number. Prop Markings The easiest way to find prop diameter and pitch is to read the markings stamped or cast into the hub. These are two numbers separated by a dash. The first number is the diameter and the second is the pitch.

Managing employee relations Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Managing employee relations - Coursework Example The change in employee relations over the last 30 years and its effect on the different stakeholders of the organization has been considered based on the UK point of view. The strategies developed by them have been studied in order to understand the issue in a more proper fashion. Employee relations: The term employee relations may be defined as the employer and the employee relationship which aims at creation of trust, harmony and commitment within the organization so that the aims and the objectives of the organization are reached and to make the workplace a secure and a productive place. The employee relation in an organization is determined by the relationship which exists between managers and the individual workers and also on the overall relationship between them. (Employee relations, n. d)The government and the trade Unions take a crucial role in maintaining the regulation of the relationship which exists between the employee and the employer. Over the last few decades various environmental factors had their influence over the change in employee relations. The concept of globalization and the emergence of the multinational corporations and their vast geographic presence have affected the changing pattern of the relationship. ... (Blyton & Turnbull, 2004) Political context: The political context includes the factors which are in support for the new economic policies incorporated by the government and its effects. The inclusion of mergers, acquisition and the entry of the foreign sectors in the market raises key concern for the economy. The trade unions raise against such government initiatives and such an environment raises insecurity among the employees regarding their jobs. (Singh, n. d, p.129) The political system involves the process of managing the conflicts and the disagreements between the societies but often it creates disturbance within the framework. In the context of the British political system, it primarily deals with framing and implementing public policies for governing the society. The British political system has faced major political change over the years and the election of the conservative government in 1979 marked the beginning of policy which started the change in the British labor marke t. The activities of the trade union were curtailed and the government aimed to enhance the flexibility of the market. The government thought that such measures will help in the promotion of the growth in the employment. The government promoted entrepreneurship and the concept of individualism emerged within the market. The market was characterized by a sufficient number of competitive products and managerial authority was established. As a result the workings of the management of the organizations also changed considerably. Proper human resource management was in effect which was marked by the concept of individualism. There was a direct communication with the employees and appraisal system was introduced. The support in favor of the trade unions and collective

Security breaches and incident handling in organization Research Proposal

Security breaches and incident handling in organization - Research Proposal Example nctions Interest of management to gain control for the security of business functions along with cost These three factors need to be handled to provide better security. In order to tackle all three factors, Christian Fruhwirth, recommended an event based intrusion detection system in 2008. The system will support these three factors by (, SWBC - Thesis: Improving security incident management in multination IT service providers - Software Business Community): Advanced tools incorporated with IDS to detect intrusions and eliminate attacks Standardized frameworks to handle legal compliance Efficient security management application tools to handle the management. Moreover, an article was published related to compromise recovery and incident handling. The article highlighted mishaps from concerned security administrators for installing default programs from a compact disc. These stored programs on a compact disc facilitates hackers to breach security by storing porn contents, configuring an illegal server, initiating attacks on other information assets and breaching server on the network. In order to eliminate all these threats and vulnerabilities, reviewing and learning the functionality of threats is essential. This will certainly reduce the probability of security incident in organizations (Compromise Recovery and Incident Handling. 2003). Strategies of Infosys Technologies Ltd

Strategies of Infosys Technologies Ltd Strategic management Strategic management defines the art of planning the business to the positive level. It is the duty of the companys leader to make an effective strategic plan. Strategic management focuses on building a solid underlying structure to the business Strategic management relies on three important factors: 1. Businesss objectives? 2. Ways to achieve those objectives? 3. Resources required to achieve those business objectives Strategic management helps in allocating right amount of resources to the different parts of business so that those resources will help achieve the strategic goals. The workers should be provided with necessary training, all information, data and work process are tested. This would help the organisation lead in a successful path, organisation needs are met, the work are aligned together enabling companies to move up in facing to new changes and competition Leadership Peter Drucker: The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers. To gain followers requires influence but doesnt exclude the lack of integrity in achieving this. Indeed, it can be argued that several of the worlds greatest leaders have lacked integrity and have adopted values that would not be shared by many people today. John C Maxwell : leadership is influence nothing more, nothing less. This moves beyond the position defining the leader, to looking at the ability of the leader to influence others both those who would consider themselves followers, and those outside that circle. Leader is one who leads the others, either in right way or the wrong way, that all depends on the leader. Leadership qualities are inbuilt which should be developed, good leadership is easier to practice in an organization. Good leadership requires deep human qualities. In todays world good leaders are made and they act as enabling force in developing people and organization. Leadership qualities help in achieving peoples needs and organisational needs. Effective leadership requires good attitudes and behaviours which relate to humanity. Leadership involves decision making and actions, leaders are one important person because they have unique responsibility towards people and organisation. They should acquire skills and knowledge to perform organisational activities. They should be strong by emotion and behaviour characters this would help in understanding and resolving employee issues The strategic management and leadership are deeply aligned with each others, if both are taken in right path it would lead to organisation success. Today in this competitive world the number 1 companies of all sectors is because of the effective leadership and strategic management. Both these are like eyes of an organisation one cannot survive without the other. For example the worlds richest man Carlos slim is one good example for leadership and good strategic management; he has 90% of the telecom sector in Mexico. He is the leader and he planned in such a way that the organization has grown from a initial stage, step by step it attained gradual growth and now it is well known in the world, there are so many organisation which were very popular and now they do not have an existence; do you think why it happened to those organisation, it is because it could be a change in the leader or could be a poor strategic management. There are occasions where bankrupt organisations rise up in t he market this also happens because of the leader and strategic management. 1.2 1.3 The role of leadership in management is largely determined by the Organizational culture of the company. It said that managers belief, values and assumptions are critical importance to the overall style of leadership that they adopt. There are different leadership style that can be identified Within each of the following management techniques. Autocratic The word Autocratic itself defines self oriented, the leader him self is the decision maker, he dominates his team members, he always uses force to achieve objectives, this type of leadership approach will result to resistance from team members, the team members will find it hard to cooperate with the leader because the leader will have a continual pressure on his team members to get the output. This type of approach is carried by many leaders I the organisation, as far as people has done a research on leadership style and it was said this leadership style is not a good way to get things done, even though it is practices in many places it yields a good result. Lassie faire This leadership style has little or no control on his ream members, it reflects that the leader is no way bothered about the result or the team members, the team member have to perform their roles and duties, they need to tackle upon the difficult situation without the leader, the team members will perform to an extent because they do have little motivation and direction. This kind of leadership style is effective when people are subject matter expertise, highly motivated and skilled people. The leaders will not set any goal for them, they need to create their own and work towards achieving it. Democratic The word democracy defines for the people, by the people and of the people, many countries in the world follow democratic type of rule, similarly organisational Leaders follow democratic leadership style, here leaders make decision by consulting his team members because each one think differently from different perspective, here the leader has possibilities where in he could pick the best choice or upgrade his ideas based on the feedback given by his team members but still he gains control over the team. The team members will decide how the task be completed who will be the right person, here there are possibilities of identifying the strength of each and every Individual, here participation will be one main aspect, team bonding, group work, group discussion and equal delegation of work is possible, team can perform well in this case. Although every thing happens in team the responsibility of the result or output will affect the team leader. Motivation and direction will be an important factor of this leadership style. Today most of the corporate, software and BPO industries in the world follow this kind of leadership style and I believe this as the most successful leadership style. Transactional The leader sets some standards for every individual, the follower or the individual is rated based on the performance standard. This is basically set in every organisation for every department. This leadership style is useful to analyse the performance review and rate the employees Transformational This leadership style creates a change in every individual, it has the ability to inspire and motivate employees to achieve new heights, this style depends only on the leader. This leadership is successful when the leaders decision is right. Charismatic This leadership style creates a positive approach in an environment, the leader is been inspired by the team member, here the leader is considered friendly, easy approachable, the team members will have a great opinion on the leader, the team members would walk with the team leaders opinion. This type of leaders are the most successful in the organisation. They bring change to environment in the organisation and people in the organisation Visionary This leadership style focuses on the future, it is a kind of prediction, and they work on attaining the organisational objectives. They put focus on where they are and what they want to be. They work to attain the future goals. Background of the company Infosys Technologies Ltd. was started in 1981 by 7 people with USD 250. Over 97% of revenues come from existing customers (FY 10). This organisation Infosys has different leadership style. They do follow autocratic, democratic, lassie faire, transactional, transformational and visionary leadership styles. Autocratic: There are certain departments in Infosys where in they follow autocratic style. This depends on how the process is to be done. They get instructions from their clients to work on a project, the leader delegates the work to their team members. The team members works on the project and completes it as per the instruction from their leader. Democratic: The IT sector of Infosys has several project, they work on the home page and navigating page of some web pages like Google, twitter etc. here the leader asks for the suggestion from the team members, upon debate and discussion and acceptance from team members and team leader, the project continues. Lassie faire: The team leaders give their deal line to their subordinates to work on the project. If suppose the deadline is a month they do not care for the first 20 days, the 21st day they have a check on the team member, then he cares on the work and at the final stage the work will be completed. Transformational: The team leader delegates work to every individual, a team member may be specialist in programmer, but he delegate the work to other person in the tea and delegate the coding work to the specialist in the programmer, there are possibilities where the team member will learn all sectors of their project, in other part he may get vexed because he is been allotted with some work which he is not related to. Charismatic: We could see several managers in our concern, they have a good understanding about their team members. The leaders know who their members are and what could they do. In similar way the team members understands their leader because the leader would have approached them in a friendly manner apart from leader, the leader inspires them in every aspect so the team member would do anything for them in terms of work. This method of leadership is carried out in every organisation. Even though every employee has dissatisfaction in their job they do it ether they have to do it or for the sake to save their leader from problems. 2.1 2.2 The role of leadership in management is largely determined by the organizational culture of the company. Today, we are a global leader in the next generation of IT and consulting with revenues of US$ 5.7 billion. Infosys defines, designs and delivers technology-enabled business solutions that help Global 2000 companies. Infosys also provides a complete range of services by leveraging our domain and business expertise and strategic alliances leading technology providers. Infosys pioneered the global delivery model (GDM), which emerged as a disruptive force in the industry leading to the rise of offshore outsourcing. The GDM is based on the principle of taking work to the location where the best talent is available, where it makes the best economic sense, with the least amount of acceptable risk. Infosys has a global footprint with 65 offices and 59 development centers in India, China, Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, the UK, Canada and Japan. Infosys and its subsidiaries have 127,779 employees as on December 31, 2010. Infosys takes pride in building strategic long-term client relationships. CONTINGENCY THEORY Every leader has different working style and he is contingent to situational factors, capabilities and behaviour of their team members. This theory provides perspective and management based on the priority, it started with the dependency, depending on the people needs and requirement this concept came into existence, this would give a brief of which material is required and which is not required by the people. So the organisation with the contingency theory can work on the requirement. Task 3 3.1 3.2 Globalisation: Effective management and leadership are two most important factors of an organisation, many organisation fail because of the poor leadership, in this global world two third of employers admit that they have poor leadership development. Today in this global market, a leader with good leadership qualities are welcomed every part of the world, there are some disadvantages because they do not have their own customer base, the customers are worldwide and they have to serve every customers, same way competition plays a major part on the opportunity, relocation of employees also happens because of globalisation, it is the business knowledge, awareness, understanding cultural difference, commitment towards job, personal and professional integrity which makes an individual a good leader. The management recruits or looks for those kind of person in leadership role Ethics and corporation: Leader is also a human like others, the reason being he has developed certain qualities; people rate the behaviours such as performance management and personal management. More over the leader should treat his followers fair with ethics; he has to enhance employee management more than performance management. Treatment of all employees fair and equal, easy approachable, keeps on his commitment, no favourites, supports employees and appreciates when does a good job, supports personal development of employees, ongoing feedback in business. These are the key aspects where in the manager or a leader should possess. Corporate social responsibility Organisational operations are of two types inner circle and outer circle, inner circle is the process that happens within the people and the process i.e the quality of the management, the other one deals with the outer world, in what ways the society and the outer stakeholders look at the organisation, mostly people look at the outer part how has the company done in terms of product and services, how it is been familiar within people based on environment and workforce, its financial analysis and focus on the future. When the organisation grew the people in the organisation should grew with good change in the economic and environment changes to the society, many organisation in this country follow CSR to advertise themselves to the market and would like to get interest in people and stakeholders Merger and acquisition Merger is merging one organisation with the other and acquisition in acquiring or controlling another organisation, this happens to enlarge its business in the global market, quality staffs with good knowledge about the market, when one business is underperforming so to lift up merger or acquisition takes place, to increase the customer base, to make production and provide service, to be one among the competitive organisations of the world. Apart from this there are even certain disadvantages that could take place because of merger and acquisition, things go wrong when nothing happens as expected. 3.3 We are not now as we were 20 years ago, day by day everything changes but we could not realise it now, when we look after years we could see everything has changed, similarly our planet is changing with change in countrys economy, standards, and way of living. Even the organisational structure changes with change in leaders, the leaders should be distinct with their attitudes, they are the one who are going to deceide on the future, their decision affects them as well as their followers, so he should be good in knowledge, personal and professional skills, he shouls be trained in all aspects of the organisation, deision making and problem solving. These attitudes will create a change in the working environment and that would lead the organisation to a successful path. 4.1 4.2 Leaders are the one who leads others, they know more than the followers because they are going to lead them, in order to lead them the leader should be well trained in all aspects, the organisation should provide training through professionals, course that would be useful in implementing it in organisation, seminars and workshop, which can provide some experience for the leaders. Formal learning: Formal learning is usual training that is provided to the leaders in educating them about the specifications, formal training differs as per the persons. Self help Self help is improving from one point to other without the help of others, here we need to understand who we are and what needs to be done in improving ourselves. Development activities Training, courses, job rotation, executive coaching, monitoring, reading article etc are some of the development activities that takes place in every Organisation, the leader should be trained on one or more aspects, if he undergoes such development activities he would attain certain leadership skills, that could be executed in his professional career, he could understand the followers attitude and mentality and help them when required, if possible he could train them with these qualities and make them a future leader. My leader at Infosys was amazing, he understands his team members and cope up with them during hard situations, he undergoes training that are allocated to him by the organisation and training that are done by leading professionals in the market, he wasted to educate him self in all aspects, reading books, browsing through web and listening to speech made by top man in every organisations, he allocates himself in every job shifts giving equal importance to every individual in team and monitoring them. These methods shape in every individual with required development in leadership skills. sdjbsj 1.1 link http://www.teal.org.uk/leadership/definition.htm 1.3 http://www.infosys.com/about/what-we-do/pages/index.aspx

A Model to Aspire to: The Mother of Modern Management Essay

The Victorian Age, which refers to the times and events in Europe during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) of England has come to connote a particular standard of living and a certain status of women indicative of female servitude, subservience and oppression. Mary Ann Burki believes that literature provides a valuable means of understanding the lives of Victorian women, a means that cannot be attained in history books or encyclopedias. (Burki, 1975) Women of that time were the product of the attitudes and feelings of the time, and the subject of this essay, Dr. Lillian Moller Gilbreth, was likewise, but she managed to achieve greatness despite Victorian age attitudes and obstacles. Although faced with the obstacles of living her day to day life as a faithful and obedient wife with a similar work ethic as that of a man but focused on the home, Lillian Moller Gilbreth managed to achieve a level of greatest that surpassed most of the women in her time. Lillian Moller Gilbreth was born in Oakland California on May 24, 1878. In a time when it was common for women to be forced to aspire at nothing more than marriage, motherhood and becoming a governess, Dr. Gilbreth managed to become a prolific author, the recipient of many awards, a mother of 12 and the â€Å"mother of modern management,† (Carey and Gilbreth, 1948, 1963; Carey and Gilbreth, 1950) perhaps the first true American superwoman of note, (Maisel and Smart, 1997) a woman who successfully combined career and home life. Unlike another notable woman who lived between 1850 and 1950, the miserly and hated Hetty (Howland Robinson) Green, â€Å"The Witch of Wall Street† (1835 – 1916) who parleyed a $10 million inheritance into over $100 million, mistreated her son, viewed her husband as a useless burden and cut him off, Lillian Gilbreth lived a happy married life, raised a large family and managed to achieve greatness sufficient to leave a significant legacy in two separate disciplines, psychology and engineering, for others to follow. (Sullivan, 1995) During her life, Dr. Gilbreth advised Presidents from Herbert Hoover to Lyndon Baines Johnson. Background and Education: Lillian, the oldest of nine children, was born as Lillian Evelyn Moller to William and Annie Moller. Due to her mother’s poor health, Lillian’s education began when she was 9. She was a good student who enjoyed literature and music and traveled across the U. S. during her school years. Despite his pride in her daughter, Lillian’s father, a prominent business who was influenced by the Victorian notions at the time regarding women, did not believe in higher education for women or that women should attend college. (Maisel and Smart, 1997) Although she ultimately made her mark in psychology, both her bachelor’s and master’s degree were in literature and her goal upon entering college was to teach English. Lillian attended the University of California at Berkeley where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Art in 1900 and a Master’s of Art in 1902. Although she completed her requirements for a Ph. D. in literature at U. C. Berkeley, she did not receive the degree. When she received her BA in literature, she became the first woman to speak at a University of California commencement. Lillian met her future husband and business partner, Frank Bunker Gilbreth (1868 – 1924), in 1903 when she took a break from her studies to travel abroad. At the time, Frank who was ten years Lillian’s senior was already developing motion-study techniques in an effort to eliminate wasted motions and increase productivity in his construction business. Frank and Lillian kept in touch by mail for ten months while she was in Europe and he proposed to her three weeks after her return. Subsequently, Frank, who never went to college, started a consulting business and Lillian worked tirelessly at his side as they began their study of scientific management principles together. They were married on October 19, 1904.

Leadership Style of John F. Kennedy

What were the leadership styles of John F. Kennedy? Kennedy was born in May 29th 1917 in Massachusetts and was a son to Joseph Patrick Kennedy and his mother was Rose Fitzgerald. He was a university graduate from Harvard where he graduated in 1940.   In 1946 being a democrat he became the president of USA. He was widely traveled and a strongly advocated for civil rights and improved social welfare. It is at this time as a president of USA that his leadership qualities were witnessed and developed. He was much admired by people because he knew how to present himself to the public. His leadership style was greatly influential and has been admired by many up to date. For now I’ll limit my scope to look at his leadership styles. His first leadership style was taking responsibility. Taking responsibility involves accepting that you are solely accountable for all of your actions. Most people when they do mistakes point a finger of accusation to others. They do not want to acknowled ge their involvement. People develop a strategy that is referred to as escapism. According to (Naegele T D. 2005) John F. Kennedy, when things in a country go wrong, people blame the president but he said that there is nothing wrong with people saying that as the head of state is paid to lead the state therefore for that reason he should be held accountable. For example when the military operation to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro in 1960s failed, he accepted that United States failed to accomplish its mission without blaming the war strategists, his advisors and the government that was before him. He said, â€Å"victory has a hundred fathers but defeat is an orphan.† He was simply referring to those who never accept their wrongs.Learning from mistakes as well as from failures was another tactic he used. This implies that you should revisit the history to know where others have erred or where yourself have gone wrong so that you can rectify your mistakes. This leade rship style was well portrayed on 16th October 1962 when the U-2 air plans captured photo acts of Khrushchev, the soviet leader placing nuclear bombs in Cuba. This was an open threat to the U.S and it was able to read between the lines to know that all was not well. (Barnes J. A. 2007). Kennedy did not want to engage his country in another war after the Second World War though there was no way he could let them to do whatever they wanted. He took the necessary measures by taking his navy to block soviet’s further plans. It was clear what Soviet Union wanted though they claimed they had no malice aforethought. They accepted to with draw their war weapons from Cuba and even accepted to dismantle the remaining ones.He was well aware of the damage that was caused by USA when it dropped a bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki and therefore he did not want a repeat of the same. Thus, he capitalized on this situation to sign a pact to agree that they would never test nuclear weapons on the earth. He also acted first in installing a direct line from his white house to Kremlin to avoid future misconceptions like in this case. (Reeves T., 1997)Compassion Mr. John F. Kennedy was a very compassionate person. He was very concerned with the welfare of others. He strongly advocated for increase of the foreign aid to the third world countries. He also created a department of the Peace Corps. He was determined to assist the underdeveloped countries in as much as he could. His scheme of Peace Corps was geared towards promoting peace in the Latin America, Africa and Asia. This Peace Corps amounted to ten thousands. He asked his citizens not to be expecting good things always. He also urged them to be patriotic and that is why during his inauguration in 1961 he challenged people that â€Å" Ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country†. He was pursuing his foreign policies just to build mutual trust among nations and to inculcate a c ulture of interdependency.Always be a team leader. Kennedy being the president of United States of America was like he was leading a team. He was able to bring people together to work as a team for their well being. He said that a leader should be able to bring people together and should be able to lead his people in the right direction for example he steered America clear of the racial injustices and lead his team in exploring the world. (Schlesinger A., Jr. 1998) Basically a team leader is somebody who guides, instructs and directs his people in the right direction. Many people admire a leader who lead by example and that is why john F. Kennedy became so popular in the whole world. He weighed all the decisions before they could be implemented. He always listened carefully to the needs of the citizens. A team leader must be a decisive person and that is how john Kennedy was. For example he led a meeting to discuss on the missiles in Cuba. He wanted to hear the views of his people b efore he could act. (Schlesinger A., Jr. 1998)Kennedy was articulate and spoke his mind openly. It takes a strong person to stand in front of the people to express your thoughts. This depends on the trust you build with your people if you do not have a good relationship with citizens then you cannot have the guts to stand in front of people to give your thoughts. If you are an effective leader then people will follow your footsteps. As Kennedy once said, â€Å"courage is not complacency†. He took it upon himself to argue for civil rights act in 1960 and was able to get seventy of the votes that were cast. He also tried to convince the congress to provide free health care to all those that were above 65 years old though his proposal was rejected. He never failed to say what was in his mind as he was aware that it was the only way he could express his thoughts to the people. Many people were influenced by his words and today he is severally quoted. He was challenging Americans n ot to just sit down and wish the status quo would remain but they should strain their every nerve to improve on what they have.To influence many people then you must learn to be a great communicator. People who speak fluently command a great following. Kennedy himself was not that good in speaking especially when he talked to the congress for the first time but later he improved on his communication skills and with time he was able to drop his regional accent, talking without pausing and also talking too fast. He did all this when he became the president of United States of America. He became the best orator ever who spoke with a lot of enthusiasm. His speech passed the intended message and created the impact he wanted for example when he was talking on the Vietnam War he said, â€Å"No other challenge is more deserving our effort and energy. Our security may be lost piece by piece, country by country†. Here he was condemning the communism that was spreading in Asia. He believ ed that if the South Vietnam were to become a communist state then countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Burma and others that were non-communists would follow soon. He strongly convinced Americans using this speech that America was ready to confront problems no matter what to support their allies and oppose their enemies in order for liberty and peace in the world would be realized. (Clark.D. 2005)This speech had profound effects on many because he knew how to play on worlds a young man became touched and decided to join the United States marines. This man said that he felt challenged by that speech by asking what the youth were doing for their country. He decided to join this department to show loyalty for his country. We can conclude this essay by saying that were it not for John Kennedy’s leadership skills he would not have gained popularity as he is today. He used various strategies to lead his people as the president of USA. He was decisive, confident and accountable for all his actions. He communicated fluently something that influenced Americans very much. He was a role model who led by an example, many people started behaving and dressing like him.Reference:Schlesinger A., Jr. 1998.
